Why I Sew
Ever since I started Fabric Mutt, I've been very careful with my children's privacy. You hear a lot about Bunny, Bear & Mouse on here and sometimes you catch a little glimpse of them, but that's about it. So it was kind of a big deal when my husband and I decided that it would be special to include a picture of my girls in Sew Organized for the Busy Girl.
These little girls make me absolutely crazy sometimes, yet they make life so good. When I think about sewing, it's almost impossible for me to not think of them at the same time because they've been right there with me from the beginning. How many hours have I spent working at my sewing machine with them standing on their tiptoes by my side to see what I'm making? How many packages have I opened to a chorus of, "Oh Mommy, it's so pretty!" and immediately had three more hands reaching out to pet the new fabric? How many times have I checked on them in the night and felt a little emotional to see them cuddling in their sleep with the quilts we made together?
I look at these pictures, and I'm reminded that this is why I sew. I really believe that sewing has made me a better mommy in so many ways. It not only gives me the chance to burn off the stress that comes with parenthood, but it allows me to bring something beautiful into my children's lives, to show them that you're never too busy to be creative and that it's never too late to learn something new.
So let me introduce you to (from left to right) Mouse, Bunny & Bear...my favorite people in the whole wide world.

ReplyDeleteThey are so adorable! I love seeing the faces of my girls when I give them something that I make. Mae will say it is sooo bootiful! Anyways, they are precious! Thanks for sharing them with us!
ReplyDeleteWhy I sew too! They are darling, those girls of yours.
ReplyDeleteOh it's lovely to see their faces! They are SO adorable! And they will be thrilled to bits to know that they are in your book (which I am looking forward to getting a copy of by the way!)

ReplyDeleteAwww, my heart went smush a bit on this one. They will love being able to look at their Mom's book and see themselves in it time after time, year after year, and then going into new generations and new little hands. They are lovely girls with great nicknames, thank you for sharing your heart :)
ReplyDeleteSweet, beautiful girls. Isn't it wonderful to have someone to sew for and who loves pretty things too?
ReplyDeleteThose little curious hands... I have two pairs here too. Sometimes they beat me at opening packages filled with fabric! How lovely to "meet" your girls!
ReplyDeleteGood morning to you little gals! I agree, kids look up to us in so many ways, it is very nice to show you can be consistent and keep learning, and include them in your extra joy.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are so beautiful! You are such a wonderful mum - look at how happy your girls are!!
ReplyDeletePetting fabric, something we relate to at our house! I love the post and the girls are very special. thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteFirst - cute a button all three. Second - I know where you're coming from when it comes to your kids and the internet. Having two teens I too have had to make that decision about when to let them loose on the world wide web when they were younger. You made the right choice.
ReplyDeleteI started sewing again to relieve the stress (and boredom) of being unemployed and my kids have been very supportive (not to mention lots more of the "will you make me one of these?" moments).
Oh they are just the sweetest Heidi. Thanks for sharing such gorgeous photos :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh… what sweet little girls.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Heidi, and thanks for sharing your precious little girls with us. Everything we do in life is with our children in mind, and they are with us for such a short period of time, and then they leave, but then come the grandchildren, and you think your heart will burst with pride, and if you are very fortunate, the great grandchildren will come along and provide you, yet again, with more of life's beautiful miracles to fill your life with joy. I hope you will be as fortunate as we are to have 6 darling little great granddaughters in our lives, who really love twirly nightgowns and little quilts for their dolls. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

ReplyDeleteI completely understand your desire to keep them private as much as possible as I do exactly the same thing. They will always be Sunshine and Jammer on my blog. I do love the photos. They are just so sweet, though I'm sure they aren't 100% of the time. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable! I definitely understand and am the same way with photos/info about my own children.

Dear Heidi,
ReplyDeleteLet me start by sending a hugs to Mouse, Bunny and Bear! My copies of Sew Organized arrived today and what a WONDERFUL job you did on your first book, Heidi. I am going to savor reading every word, even though I'm no seamstress, as you know. My sewing friends who will receive a gift copy each will enjoy it so much! I'm glad that the girls' Daddy was very supportive. :-)
Love,
G'ma Mary
Gorgeous girls and gorgeous sewing. Thanks for sharing.
