Hipster
Just a quick post this evening on my finish for the day: a Tsuru Two Zip Hipster. This fabulous pattern by Erin Erickson of Dog Under My Desk can be purchased here, and I highly recommend that you do so. It's a great little purse, so sturdy and full of places to stuff things in a hurry, as I'm always doing.
My only wish is that it were just a teensy bit larger -- being a mom, I'm still carrying half the universe around in my bag, and I had to cram pretty hard to get it all inside this one. Though I'm loathe to give up my Zakka Style wallet which I adore, I may have to downsize to a smaller version if there's still going to be room in this bag for my sunglasses to breathe.
Both prints are from Rashida Coleman Hale's brilliant new collection Tsuru. The outside is 1000 Cranes in cerulean, and the lining is Of a Feather in ivory. The colors and prints are skipping past spring and heading right into summer for me today. I can absolutely see myself taking this bag on all our day trips with the kids once June arrives.
I wanted you to get a feel for the size of this bag, so I had my husband snap a quick photo as we were headed out the door to Five Guy Burgers and Bunny's Tae Kwon Do class. Looking at this picture, all I can think is that it just goes to show the difference that sewing has made in my life. I may still forget to put on makeup and jewelry, and I may wear t-shirts and jeans almost every day of the week, but at least I can carry a gorgeous bag with me wherever I go...
Linking up to Fabric Tuesday.
it really is a beautiful bag, well done!
ReplyDeleteLove the bag Heidi! Gorgeous fabric choices too!
ReplyDeleteReally cute, Heidi!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous bag, I had figured the Tsuru was a better print for bigger projects than patchwork, and it works perfectly for bag making, really shows it off, well done! :o)
ReplyDeleteIt really is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! Does it work as a cross body bag? I'm thinking I might have to check out the pattern!
ReplyDeleteYup, the hardware o the strap make it possible o hang almost to your kee if you'd like!

ReplyDeleteYour bag is beautiful. You have done a wonderful job making it. I wasn't real crazy about that fabric until I saw your purse, now I love it. Sometimes I have to see the fabric put to use before it catches my eye, great job.
ReplyDeleteGreat bag! Great modeling! I don't even have kids and feel like I carry the world in my bag...granted I am a knitter, and yarn does take up quite a bit of room.
ReplyDeletefab! I think I'm off to check out that pattern
ReplyDeleteIt IS a gorgeous bag! Who needs make-up and jewelry???
ReplyDeleteLovely bag!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I bought that pattern a month or so ago, but haven't made it yet... now I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI absolutly love that crane fabric. I want to figure out something to make with it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just finished this bag Monday night! It's a great pattern, very easily followed. It was my first purse and I had no trouble whatsoever! And the Tweens are loving them! Erin makes fabulous patterns
ReplyDeleteThis looks great in Tsuru! Nice zip choice as well. I'm thinking of scaling the pattern up a bit next time so I can fit my water bottle and a book in there - I love my TZH but I agree that it's a bit on the small side.
ReplyDeleteLove it and I love your photo!
